How to Play Mid-Season Fantasy Football

There is no overall part of the contest, it is all league play.

The contest starts on Week 6 (Oct. 12th) of the NFL season and runs through Week 16 (Dec. 22nd).

Every team will be randomly assigned to a 12 team league. Each owner will draft their own team, via a live online draft. The Fantasy Jungle uses a unique POWER SCHEDULING system, which means: during weeks 6-14 of the NFL regular season, each team will play every team in their league each week. This way of scheduling helps offset the luck factor and will reward the more consistent teams week in and week out. This means that the top scoring team in their league will be 11-0 for that week. The second best scoring team would be 10-2, etc.

Starting in Week 15 the team with the best head to head record in each league will play the team, remaining in that league, with the highest point total in a TWO week League Championship Game during weeks 15-16. The winner of this game will be deemed the league champ, and the loser will be the league runner up.

Mid-Season Fantasy Football Schedule

The Fantasy Jungle schedule format is unique in that it rewards consistent teams, while taking out the "luck" factor as much as possible. It also is unique in the fact that it allows teams who have bad weeks to make up more ground, compared to if they lost 2-3 games early on and felt they were out of it. Every week, each team will play every team in their league head to head. The way that this works is this: The team with the most points in their league that week, would be 11-0. (There are 12 teams, but you don't count yourself, therefore you have 11 opponents.) The team with the 2nd highest point total, would be 10-1.The third best point total for that week is 9-2.and so on and so on all the way down to the team with the lowest point total for the week, who would be 0-11. Each week, your score for record purposes, resets back to zero. If Team A's record for the first 3 weeks was 11-0, 9-2, and 6-5, their total record after 3 weeks would be 26-7. If Team B's record was 10-1, 10-1, and 8-3, their total record after 3 weeks would be 28-5, thus giving them the best current overall record. It is important to keep in mind, that regardless of your record, you still can get into your League Championship Game based on your cumulative points total for the season. While the scores for determining your record are reset each week, your cumulative season point total is your team's points scored for the entire season.

The Draft

The deadline to enter a team for a particular draft date is officially noon the day before the draft. Fantasy Jungle leagues will be randomly drawn the day prior to each draft. The results will be posted on the website after the completion of the drawing.

The draft that you pick, will be conducted via our website and held on that corresponding date. The draft will consist of (20) rounds and will be conducted in serpentine fashion, meaning the team with the first pick in the first round will have the last pick in the second round and then the first pick in the third round, etc. You should expect the draft to last anywhere between 2-3 hours.

Owners will need to be logged on at least (15) minutes prior to the start of the draft. They will input their login ID and a password, which will be provided, and that will take them to their league Draft Room. Once the draft begins, players will have (2) minutes to make their selections. If a player fails to make a selection within the allotted time period, an autopick will be made for him via the FJ rankings. Each league will be provided with an exclusive emergency phone number in case they lose connection so they may call in. You will also have the ability to rank players in your draft queue and use our autopick feature that way.

Only players who are on an NFL roster at the time of the draft, may be drafted. After completion of the draft, all teams and their rosters will be updated and available for viewing by all teams.

Draft Dates

We will be offering 3 draft dates to choose from, so you may enter 3 teams for the contest. The draft dates are as follows:

Draft Option #1- Thursday, October 9th, at 9:00 PM EST
Draft Option #2- Saturday, October 11th, at 7:00 PM EST

Roster / Lineup Submission

Team rosters are comprised of 20 players. There is no limit on how many players at each position you may have, however, your starting weekly lineup must consist of the following:

The deadline for weekly lineup submissions is five (5) minutes before the start of your player's game that week. All players lock five (5) minutes before their game starts, however you may change players that have not yet played up until five (5) minutes before their game starts. For example, if you have two kickers on your roster that play in Monday night's game, and Monday morning one of the kickers in your starting lineup is injured, you may switch him out for your other kicker as long as you make the switch at least 5 minutes before the game starts. Teams can make their weekly changes via our website, by logging in with their ID and password.

If a new lineup is not submitted by the deadline during any week, the lineup from the prior week will be used. In the ridiculous event that a valid opening day roster is not submitted, we will automatically insert a valid lineup, according to draft order by available position.

The Transaction Wire

Trades will not be permitted to eliminate any possibility of collusion. There is simply no way to fairly rule on acceptable trades, therefore they will not be allowed. However, you may make additions to your team via free agency.

Each team will start the season with (1) million free agent dollars. You may use those dollars to BID WEEKLY, on players in the free agent pool. Free agent bids must be in increments of $1,000.

The free agent pool will consist of all players who have not been drafted or players released by their respective team owners. Free agent bidding begins after the first week of the start of the contest and runs through week 14 of the NFL season. After the completion of week 14 games, free agent transactions will cease.

Starting in Week 10, there are Thursday Night games every week from there on out. This means that the last opportunity to bid on free agents starting in Week 10 will be Wednesday, at 9:00pm EST, not on Friday due to the early game that week.

In addition, all players who are released after week 10 will be ineligible to be picked up by anyone. This is done to prevent collusion from teams who are out of the playoff race, and so no teams will dump players to contending teams. Free Agent bidding may only be done via the internet, we will not accept free agent bids over the phone.

There will also be a list of "star" players, designated by The Fantasy Jungle that you may waive, but will not be placed back into the free agent pool. We will post this list before the season kicks off. This will be done to ensure competitive balance within each league and to prevent any teams from dumping star players to one another. We will however be liberal with the list in case of an injury. You can choose to leave an injured player on your bench as a reserve or you can release him if eligible.

Each week, bids will be accepted starting Tuesday at 12:00 (noon) EST, and ending on Friday at 9:00 pm EST. However, starting in Week 10, the bidding deadline is Wednesday due to the Thursday Night Games. This is a blind bidding process and teams may bid any amount of their remaining free agent dollars on any player. All bids must be in whole dollars. The team who has bid the most on a player, after the close of bidding for that week, will have that player added to their roster, and a player who they have designated to be released, will be moved into the free agent pool in order to make room for him. Teams will not be able to see the bids of other teams, making this process, in effect, "blind bidding". All results with updated rosters will be posted after the weekly deadline passes.

Conditional bids may also be placed by teams, in case they lose out on the original player they were bidding on. A primary bid, in fact, may be followed by a series of sequential conditional bids. The team will be awarded the first player they outbid their competition on, and the rest of the bids will be erased. Therefore teams should rank their conditional bids on priority. A conditional bid amount must be equal to or less than the amount of the primary bid.

For example, a team may bid 30,000.00 on Johnny Morton with a conditional bid of 10,000.00 on Jabar Gaffney and then a conditional bid of 13,000.00 on Tim Dwight. If they are outbid on Morton, then their bid on Gaffney is recognized. If they are outbid on Gaffney, then their bid on Dwight is recognized.

There is no limit on the amount of bids a team can make each week. If there is a tie on a bid, the tiebreakers will go as follows, with the team in the worst shape getting the player;

The Scoring System

Your team’s score each week will be based on the following categories:

Rush, Pass, Receiving:
Passing TD 0-39 yards = 3pts
Passing TD 40 yards or more = 6 pts.

Rushing TD 0-39 yards = 6 pts.
Rushing TD 40 yards or more = 9 pts

Receiving TD 0-39 yards = 6 pts.
Receiving TD 40 yards or more = 9 pts.

Passing, Rushing or Receiving 2 pt. Conversion = 2 pts.
Receptions = 1 pt.
Interceptions thrown = (-1) pt.
Fumbles Lost = (-1) pt.

Yardage
Yards passing divided by 20 = 1 pt.
Yards rushing and receiving divided by 10 = 1 pt.

***Team scoring will be carried out to the hundredth.***

Kicking:
Extra point = 1 pt.
FG = 3 pts + 0.1 pt for every additional yard over 30 yds
(Example: 47 yd FG = 4.7 pts)

DEFENSIVE / SPECIAL TEAMS: (consists of defensive formations, punt and kick return teams)
Sack = 1 pt.
Fumble Recovery = 2 pts.
Interception = 2 pts.
Safety = 2 pts.
Shutout = 15 points
2-10 points allowed = 10 pts.
11-17 point allowed = 5 pts.

*** All points scored against any unit of the team count as points against the defense/special teams. So a touchdown scored on an interception return is still counted against the defense/special teams.***

Defensive or Special Teams TD :
0-39 yards = 6 pts.
40 yards or more = 9 pts.

In addition, Individual players WILL receive points for special teams touchdowns but not yardage. Example: Troy Brown will receive 9 points for a punt or kickoff return of 56 yards for a TD, as well as New England’s Def / Special Teams. However, Troy Brown does not receive points for the return yardage. Fake field goals or punts do not count as defensive / special teams scores as they are considered offensive plays.
