Frequently Asked Questions
We realize and appreciate that you have several questions about
fantasy sports, the Fantasy Jungle, and the fantasy industry. Below, we
have attempted to answer as many questions as possible that you might
have, providing you with a "General" set of F.A.Q’s, along with contest
specific F.A.Q’s. If you still have a question after reading this
section, please feel forward to contact us under the Contact Us section
of our website.
How long have you been in business?
The Fantasy Jungle opened in the summer of 2003, and we are heading into
our 6th year of business.
Where are you and how can I get in touch with
you?
We are based in the suburbs of Detroit, MI. Both our phone numbers and e
mail contact info is in our “Contact Us” section and is always current
for you to get in touch with us.
What makes this contest different from the
others out there?
The most common thing we hear from our members is the personal
attention they receive once they became a Jungle member is beyond
anything they have experienced in the industry of fantasy sports
contests. Quite frankly, there is no other contest as committed to
customer service as The Fantasy Jungle.
Your entry fee is more than
I normally spend. Is it worth it?
First of all, don’t be fooled by contests that have low
entry fees but charge for transactions such as trades or purchases. In
order to be competitive you will need to make weekly transactions and
you will quickly spend well over the cost of your entry fee. When you
join the Fantasy Jungle you know exactly what you are paying. A ONE
TIME flat fee is all you will ever pay for a Fantasy Jungle contest.
We are not here to fool you
with transaction fees, event's fees, or other hidden fees. or
additional features you need to “purchase” in order to be competitive
with your league mates or enjoy your experience. The prize
structure of the Fantasy Jungle is second to none.
I enjoy playing in some of the contests where I
can choose my players weekly, so should I switch to a draft style
league, where I am restricted with one team?
If you consider yourself an avid fantasy player, you realize that a
draft style contest gives you the best opportunity to showcase your
skills and take down the big prize. It is the same reason that in the
big event of The World Series of Poker they play Texas Hold’em and not
Old Maid or Crazy 8’s. You want skill to be more than luck. In order
to be competitive in a draft style contest, you will need to come
prepared and know your sport. If you have played in a draft style
local league you realize the importance of preparation before draft
day and the draft itself.
I have played in some larger contests and won, but it
took between one and four months for me to get my prize check. How quick will I
get a check if I win in The Fantasy Jungle?
The Fantasy Jungle was founded by two avid national fantasy players,
both of whom have waited weeks….even months for prize checks from
various companies. The Fantasy Jungle was founded with the vision of
being the BEST in the industry at all levels, and this includes the
fastest pay outs. If you don’t believe us, just look at some of the
testimonials from our players! We are not looking to make interest on
your prize money. The league checks will be mailed out the week after
the conclusion of the playoff game, and the national prizes will be
mailed out the week after the conclusion of the national championship
week. There is no excuse for a delay in the prize pool pay outs and
you shouldn't settle for anything less. We have created a new standard
that the industry will be forced to rise to.
I am having a hard time narrowing down contests
to play in this season. Why should I play in yours?
Let's face it. The hard core fantasy player will play in several
contests. They feel they should at least win their league, as a result
of confidence in their skills, and that in itself, gives them a nice
overlay for the contest. We will not discourage you from playing in
any other contest. We can only encourage you to play in the BEST
contest as well…The Fantasy Jungle. We suggest that you weigh your
options and stay within your budget. If you like the concept of the
draft style contest and want the convenience of being able to draft
online while STILL having a shot at a huge prize pool…The Fantasy Jungle is
for you.
I would like to play, however I would like to
have a friend draft with me. Is this allowed?
Certainly and very common. Some fantasy players argue that “two heads
are better than one” and team up with one or more players, while
others prefer to be the sole decision maker. That choice is entirely
up to you. If your team has more than one owner, you may all logon to
the draft room and participate.
Can I register more than one team?
Yes, you may own multiple teams, and under some instances even
receive a discount! We have multiple draft dates
to choose from and you are allowed to manage 1 team per draft date. Your teams will
obviously be in separate leagues, so you will have the opportunity to win
multiple League Championships.
What do I do if I am drafting and I lose
connection?
We have an emergency 800 number for you to call where you
can speak to your league moderator who will keep you up to speed with
the draft until you can regain your connection.
What about your salary cap style contest?
The Fantasy Jungle offers salary cap contests for several sports in
order to provide you the best of both worlds. Our salary cap contests
allow you to select a new team each week, but you will never pay a
transaction fee.
What is POWER SCHEDULING and why have you
implemented it in your head to head portion of your contest?
The most common problem in head to head leagues is
that players who are doing poorly sometimes tend to give up and stop
managing their team. This leads to bye week players being started
and eventually… mismatches. When you are sitting in third place and
need that first place team to lose, it can be frustrating to watch
them play the last place team who has 3 players on injured reserve.
Power Scheduling eliminates these mismatches by having each team
compete against every team in their league every single week. So
there is no unfair scheduling advantages or “luck of the draw” wins
or losses. If you have the high score in your league for the week
you will be undefeated for THAT particular week. In short, it lessens the
luck factor of the head to head portion of the contest.
I have a question that isn’t answered on here.
Can I contact you guys?
Most definitely. There are going to be things that come up from time
to time, that need clarification. We pride ourselves on getting you a
response quickly. You can email the link on our homepage or you can
call us at (734) 946-0287. We take calls daily from our members on
everything from questions on a scoring clarification to discussing
football or baseball in general. We enjoy talking to our members, and
we feel that getting your feedback is important to the success of this
company. We will never grow to a level where we lose touch of WHO our
members are. As corny as that may sound, it is the thing that
separates us from them.
What is this stuff I hear about payout percentage. What is the correct number?
This varies amongst different companies and contests. We try to payback as much
as we can to the prize pool. There is no set number, and some of our contests
vary, but we always try and pay in the 70-80% range. Understand that it is a
business, and there are several expenses that we won’t bore you with, and that
dictate what we can pay out and still run a successful business. Our goal is to
provide solid prize pools with a solid experience. We want you to have fun, so
we try and make our stats pages and draft rooms as easy and user friendly as
possible.
I want to make a suggestion, will you listen?
Absolutely. We can’t promise that we can always implement your feedback, but we
do promise to always read and discuss your comments and thoughts. We have made
several key changes to our contests over the years based on player feedback, and
they have improved our game greatly. We aren’t too proud to use something and we
welcome your feedback.
Can I participate in your mock drafts?
Yes you can. You may participate in all of our mock drafts without having to
purchase a team. You just need an id and password to log in and mock. You can
gain an id and password by signing up for any Jungle contest. You don’t have to
be active to participate, but you do need an id and password to access the site,
so once you play in one contest, you are a member for life and may always access
our site.
I would like to pay via another format then a credit
card. Is this possible?
Yes it is. If you would like to pay for your teams using check, money order, or
various other methods, please contact us at customer service so we can set that
up for you.
May I print the stats off in the Nerve Center?
Yes you can. Feel free to print all of the info that we have listed in the Nerve
Center. We have taken the time to add the players statistics and calculated
their total points. You may search by every category or by name at each
position.
My password is not working on the message board. How
does this work?
Message board registration is different then your Jungle ID and password. You
need to register separately for that, and you will be ready to post. Just
register right on the message board.
I signed up for a draft date and need to change it, is
that possible?
It is for our main contests and High Roller Leagues. Things happen and you may
need to switch your draft dates. Please contact us as early as possible up until
2 weeks from your draft date, so we have time to balance the leagues and we will
do our best to accommodate you.
For satellite leagues, league positions are assigned randomly as you sign up, so
you will not be allowed to switch your draft dates once you have signed up for
these.
I forgot my password and login ID. How do I retrieve
it?
Please refer to the top right corner of our website. Fill that out and we will
send your password to your e mail account that you registered with us.
